Root Canal
At Cooley Cosmetic and Family Dental, we understand how dental pain can negatively affect all aspects of your life. Thus, if a tooth is causing you or a loved one pain, we are quick to help. When a tooth is cracked or has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter the pulp tissue and cause an infection inside the tooth. Other signs a root canal might be needed are a weird taste in your mouth, swelling, or a tooth turning grey. If left untreated, an abscess may form and lead to swelling from the infection. As the infection grows, the neighboring teeth can become infected, your jawbone can be damaged, and the infection can spread to the rest of your body. To prevent the spread of the infection, a root canal is needed.
During treatment, the affected tissue is removed. Next, the interior of the tooth will be cleaned before placing a natural, plant-based product inside the nerve canal to seal the tooth to future infections. Finally, the tooth is filled with a dental composite and restored with a crown. As long as you continue to care for your teeth and gums with regular brushing, flossing, and checkups, your restored tooth can last a lifetime.
The team at Cooley Cosmetic and Family Dentistry would love to help relieve your tooth pain.
